Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much area is required to install a rooftop solar system?

A: 1 KW solar system requires approximately 10 sq. m (or 100 sq. ft) of shadow free area. Therefore, one 1 MW (1000 KW) solar system would require 10,000 sq. m / 1,00,000 sq. ft / 3 acres of shadow free area.

Q: What is the installation and commissioning period for an on grid solar power plant?

A: An on grid solar plant would require 3-6 months inclusive of design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning based on the size of the plant.

Q: What is the cost of an on grid solar system?

A: Tentatively a 1 KW solar system would cost as follows: Rs. 42000/- for metal shed roof top, Rs. 45000/- for RCC roof top/Ground Mounted, GST extra @ 13.8% on total project price. All prices are including all supply, installation and commissioning.

Q: What will be the average life of the solar panels?

A: The solar panels have a warranty for a period of 25 years, however, the projected life is longer.

Q: What maintenance is required for a solar power plant?

A: Solar photovoltaic panels have no moving parts, and therefore require little maintenance, which will include module cleaning with water every 2-4 weeks and preventive electrical maintenance every 3 months.

Q: Does a solar system work in cloudy conditions?

A: Yes, however the solar system will generate lesser power compared to a sunny day.

Q: Are there any approvals needed from any governing sector?

A: KSL Cleantech Limited will take care of all the approvals needed, if any, and educate you on the same.

Q: Will the Solar Plant work if Grid electricity is cut off?

A: In case of an Off-Grid System, Solar Plant would work as the battery would have power stored.
